ESPN has debuted its 2023 Fantasy Football campaign ahead of the 2023 NFL season.
The campaign will run from July 17 to September 10, with the new NFL season set to begin on September 7.
With a comedic focus, this season’s ESPN ad campaign comprises three video spots: Delivery, Commish, and Steve. Each spot aims to highlight a specific part of ESPN’s fantasy league offering.
Delivery highlights an awkward interaction with a woman and delivery driver. Using this particular situation as the selling point, the woman responds “you too” when her food gets delivered.
As the driver walks off, she reminds him to set his fantasy lineup to which he thanks her for the tip – telling fans how to save themselves from those kind of exchanges.
Commish centers on first impressions and how to break the ice. In this scenario, a young male tries to impress his girlfriend’s dad with conversation about his job
When that fails, he points out he’s the commissioner of a 14-man fantasy league which impresses the older gentleman.
In the final campaign, Steve, two men called Steve struggle to have something in common during a shareride taxi journey.
When the passenger Steve asks if he should start start Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson, driver Steve responds positively and the conversation starts to flow.
ESPN vice-president of brand marketing Seth Ader said the new campaign is an important tool as the sports broadcaster looks to retain fantasy players going into the new season.
The VP explained: “ESPN Fantasy Football creates connections and builds communities. In this campaign, we remind fans to continue playing ESPN Fantasy Football because it is the ultimate equalizer between people, and can help get you out of awkward situations.
“We’re excited to launch the campaign and get our millions of players ready for the upcoming season,” he added.
