AGA rolls out new responsible gambling hub
Trade group launches new service to work alongside previously released RG messaging platform in a bid to help players make more informed choices
The American Gaming Association (AGA) has unveiled its Play Smart Consumer Hub, its latest online service looking to promote responsible gambling (RG) in the US.
Offering all users tools that will help shape wagering habits, the AGA’s new hub includes a pre-play checklist, designed to ensure players take the time to reflect on their mental state and set their own limits before betting.
The Play Smart Consumer Hub contains a ‘Know the Game’ section, which educates users on all aspects of wagering, including odds, the house advantage, and a breakdown of common sports betting terms.
Hub users are also able to assess their own wagering habits via a RG IQ quiz, alongside access to multiple support services such as the National Problem Gambling Helpline and relevant state self-exclusion registers.
While the hub is primarily player-focused, it will also feature an industry toolkit for operators and other key industry stakeholders.
Any operators that participate will be handed with an array of resources, including guidance on how to communicate with customers and ways to integrate RG programs into their respective platforms.
Bill Miller, AGA CEO and president, stressed the importance of healthy wagering habits and how the new hub can assist consumers.
He said: “The AGA is committed to making responsible gaming a seamless part of the player experience.
“Part of the fun of gaming is that everyone plays differently, but no matter how or where you play, staying in control starts with habits that work for you.
“The Play Smart Consumer Hubprovides players with straightforward, actionable tools to help them stay in control and keep gaming fun.”
Reflecting on how the service can benefit companies within the industry, Miller added: “Whether an operator or supplier is building a new responsible gaming program or looking to refresh existing efforts, this toolkit makes it easy to deliver consistent, player-first messaging across every customer touchpoint.”
The new hub builds on the foundation provided by the AGA’s ‘Play Smart from the Start’ messaging platform, which promotes responsible wagering habits.
In other AGA news, the industry trade group was named by the Public Health Advocacy Institute (PHAI) as one of the groups behind the “aggressive” push for online casino legalization in the US, conduct that the PHAI opposes in the midst of its lawsuit against Caesars Online Casino.
